Fairmont State Goes “On the Road” in July 2026 to Wyoming, McDowell, and Raleigh Counties

Following Fairmont State President Mike Davis’ solo statewide summer tour in 2025, the University is taking its mission on the road to Wyoming, McDowell, and Raleigh counties this July with more than 30 Falcons. On the Road with Fairmont State will bring students, faculty, staff, leaders, and alumni directly into communities across the state to listen, connect, and build lasting partnerships.
“Fairmont State University is not just a university located in the City of Fairmont—we are a university for all West Virginians,” said Davis. “On the Road with Fairmont State is about putting that belief into action. We are getting out into communities, meeting people where they are, and listening closely to what they need, what they hope for, and what they expect from their university. As we visit Wyoming, McDowell, and Raleigh Counties, we want to have real conversations with local leaders, schools, businesses, alumni, families, and residents about how Fairmont State can be a stronger partner and a better resource. This is how we build trust, deepen relationships, and create lasting partnerships that help move Southern West Virginia, and our entire state, forward.”
On the Road provides an opportunity to interact with local leaders, legislators, municipalities, schools, businesses, community organizations, alumni, families, and residents to better understand the needs, priorities, and opportunities across the region. Through these conversations, Fairmont State aims to strengthen relationships, identify meaningful partnerships, and demonstrate how the University can serve as a resource for communities throughout the state.
The trip begins with a kickoff event at Twin Falls Resort on July 13, followed by county-wide events, community tours, and meaningful conversations with the people and places that make West Virginia special.
Those interested in attending On the Road events can join on:
- July 13 at 6:00 PM for the kickoff event at Twin Falls Resort
- July 14 at 6:00 PM at Wyoming East High School
- July 15 at 6:00 PM at the Jack Caffrey Arts and Cultural Center in McDowell County
