About Us

Where People Soar

For nearly 160 years, Fairmont State University has challenged expectations and transformed lives. We don’t believe in limitations, but we do believe in hard work and passion.

Most of all, we believe in dreams.

If you bring us a dream, we’ll do everything we can to make it a reality. That’s one reason why over 90% of Fairmont State’s student body is comprised of native West Virginians (that’s higher than any other four-year institution in the state).  Communities appreciate our commitment to service, and our belief in nurturing citizen leaders who, upon graduation, make all of their communities stronger.

Partners value our expertise and outcomes, and they know that Fairmont State is not only a prime economic engine for the region but also one of the most financially stable institutions of higher learning in the state. This goal drives us every day: inspiring and empowering people and communities to take wing and soar.
