Take Your First Flight as a Falcon and SOAR!

You can relax—Fairmont State has created an initiative to help you find your way.

The First Flight First-Year Student Experience helps residential and off-campus first-year students connect with the campus community. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about campus life, resources available to students, what’s available off campus, and ways to make friends and have fun!

Attendance is required for all first-year students, whether you are an on-campus resident or living off-campus. High attendance at First Flight activities will enter you into a raffle for a tuition waiver.*

Residential Student (i.e. students who live on campus in the residence halls) have required attendance Thursday-Sunday.

Off-Campus students (i.e. students who do not live on campus/commuter students) have required attendance Thursday-Friday and highly encouraged attendance Saturday-Sunday.

You can find your detailed, personalized schedule of required events to attend in the Engage app. Below is a general schedule of events.  Bolded events and activities are required.  Be sure you check in at each event!

You will be placed in a small group of new students with a First Flight Leader, a returning student who will be guiding you through your experience!  Each group has their own Check In location—see Engage for yours!

If you are a student with a disability and would like to request accommodations, please visit the Accessibility Services webpage

Turley Center, IT, and SOAR Store will have extended hours during First Flight.  Check back for updates!
