Office of Sponsored Programs Impact

Office of Sponsored Programs

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) promotes the mission of Fairmont State University by facilitating the acquisition and management of all sponsored awards. The OSP helps to identify, secure, and effectively manage external funding to support programmatic development, special projects, research, scholarly activities, and other initiatives to support the Fairmont State community. To ensure a coordinated, strategic, and effective approach to external funding, the OSP serves as the central clearinghouse for administration of sponsored awards and also serves as a liaison between campus constituents.

The OSP provides guidance from conceptual development and planning of proposals through implementation and administration of funded projects. More specifically, we help identify potential extramural funding sources, review and possibly amend proposal narratives and budgets, assist with the completion of standardized applications, ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, negotiate grant awards and contracts, and provide administrative oversight for funded projects.

By maintaining a centralized, coordinated approach to the review, approval, submission, and management of all grants and sponsored awards, Fairmont State will be more successful in securing additional resources to help achieve the University's vision of being "A Great Place to Learn, to Work, & to Call Home."

Mission Statement

The mission of the Office of Sponsored Programs is to help increase external funding and to provide administrative oversight for all sponsored awards.

In order to ensure a coordinated, effective, and strategic approach to sponsored funding, this office serves as a clearinghouse to make the progression of proposal development through award close-out a seamless and straightforward process. We serve as a liaison between the grant recipient and other institutional constituencies to ensure appropriate implementation of grant-funded projects and proper stewardship of resources entrusted to the University by our various funding agencies.
