Fairmont State student receives prestigious International Honor Society in Business Scholarship

Fairmont State University student Julia Kirby has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business. A native of Calvin, WV, Kirby is pursuing a double major in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Graphic Design. 

“I am honored to receive this scholarship from Delta Mu Delta,” said Kirby. “I’m incredibly grateful for the supportive faculty, staff, and friends who have helped me thrive at Fairmont State University.” 

Kirby’s achievement reflects Fairmont State’s commitment to being a Great Place to Learn—where students are empowered to succeed through personalized academic experiences and strong support systems. With small class sizes and dedicated faculty, the university fosters an environment where students like Kirby can excel both in and out of the classroom. Delta Mu Delta is affiliated with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), a global accrediting body founded in 1988. ACBSP is the only organization offering accreditation across all levels of collegiate business education—from associate to doctoral degrees. Its rigorous standards, based on the Baldrige Education Criteria for Performance Excellence, evaluate leadership, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, academic quality, faculty credentials, and educational support to ensure continuous improvement and excellence in business education.

She’s balancing two demanding degree programs in business and design and brings real skill and focus to everything she does,” said Associate Professor of Accounting Lesa Muto. “In my accounting course, she stood out not just for her strong performance, but for her discipline and attention to detail. This recognition is a reflection of her hard work, and I’m excited to see all that she’ll accomplish next."
