Scholarships established for music education and occupational safety students at Fairmont State University

A Marion County native has arranged a planned gift to establish two scholarships supporting students in music education and occupational safety programs at Fairmont State University. The David Warren Harper, M.S., and Nancy Valentine Harper, Ed.D., Occupational Safety Scholarship, and the David Warren Harper, M.S., and Nancy Valentine Harper, Ed.D., Music Education and/or Education Scholarship have been created to honor the shared commitment to improve the lives of others and encourage a legacy of supporting students in these fields.

Fairmont State University now offering new scholarship for students with excellent high school GPAs

Fairmont State University is now offering a new scholarship for incoming students. The Falcon Excellence in Residence Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship for incoming/new students who choose to live on campus during their journey as a Falcon and have a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher. The $2,000 scholarship will be applied to student’s first-year tuition at Fairmont State ($1,000 a semester). The scholarship does not require ACT/SAT testing scores.

Fairmont State Professor to present at the 2023 Association of Nepali Physicists in America Conference

On July 14, Fairmont State University Assistant Professor of Physics, Dr. Ganga P. Sharma will present at the 2023 Association of Nepali Physicists in America (ANPA) Conference. The presentation title is ‘Improving Teaching in Physics Courses Using SCALE-UP Pedagogies.’ SCALE-UP is a method of teaching that takes the focus off of the teacher and makes learning more student-centric through collaborative and hands-on activities.

Fairmont State University holds scholarship event for readmitted and transfer students

Fairmont State University continued its commitment to student success and accessible higher education through the ‘Finish What You Started’ scholarship event on June 15. The event was created specifically to encourage those who have taken a hiatus from their pursuit of a college education to restart and finish earning their degrees. During the event, each attendee received a $1000 one-time scholarship for their first year at Fairmont State. This is the first-ever scholarship event held by Fairmont State catered to readmitted and transfer students.

National Architectural Accrediting Board approves Initial Accreditation for Fairmont State’s Master of Architecture program

On Friday, May 19, the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) announced they approved the Initial Accreditation of Fairmont State University’s Master of Architecture program. The NAAB is the sole accrediting body for architecture programs in the United States and it ensures that graduates are appropriately prepared to enter the profession.
