Civic Engagement

Get Involved

Serving your community is important!

The Civic Engagement initiative at Fairmont State University is committed to providing beneficial, educational, and memorable community outreach experiences for students, faculty, and staff. The Office of Civic Engagement assists and coordinates individual and group service opportunities. The office offers support for service projects that enhance learning opportunities and improve community conditions.

It's easy to get started. The Fairmont State University Office of Civic Engagement:

  • Partners with Learning Options Inc. to participate in the Oliver Street Community Garden
  • Partners with community organizations and non-profit groups
  • Tracks your hours to meet civic engagement requirements
  • Offers a community service learning course for academic credit
  • Organizes campus-wide service campaigns

What you can give

Fairmont State University undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, non-traditional students, Greek Life members answer the call to service: Falcons Give Back. Our volunteers may sit with an elderly nursing home resident. They mentor elementary school students. Volunteers provide meals to the homeless. They organize campaigns to collect and deliver food and clothing for those in need. Falcons who give back clean up parks and city streets.
