Fairmont State welcomes Jeremy Hatcher as new Director of Alumni Relations

Fairmont State University is happy to welcome Jeremy Hatcher as the new Director of Alumni Relations and will work to engage and grow the Falcon alumni network. 

A native of Ripley, WV, he attended West Virginia University where he earned his Master's in Safety Management and bachelor's in Environmental Science with a minor in microbiology.  He is a 2019 graduate of the Leadership Marion program. 

“As the Director of Alumni Relations, I want to help share the stories of our alumni from not only their time in school but also their career path and successes. I am eager to welcome our alumni home to Fairmont State,” he said. “I think it’s important to help alumni find ways to add value to the university by helping them not only find philanthropic opportunities but also connecting them to mentorship opportunities like recruiting students and giving career advice.”

Hatcher has served in a variety of roles over the years and is excited to utilize his skills to reconnect alumni to Fairmont State. He looks forward to getting to know more about what the University was like in the past and how alumni can continue being involved moving forward.  

“I’m glad to be part of the rich tradition of Fairmont State by helping alumni give back to the university by telling their story,” he said. “After being on the job for a month, I can already see the Falcon pride that radiates from the alumni to the current students.” 

Porter Stiles, vice president of the Fairmont State Alumni Association, said they are so happy to have Hatcher fill the position of the new director. 

“I’m very happy Jeremy has hit the ground running. He has some new ideas of getting the alumni engaged in activities both on and off campus,” he said. “His door is always open and has already expanded the office in the Erickson Alumni center. I encourage any alumni that. One to the campus in the future to stop at the Erickson Center and say hello. You will be greeted with open arms.”

In his new role, Hatcher will be working to expand the alumni base. He wants to help reconnect them to the University so they know what is happening and they are able to get involved. 

"I’ve been familiar with Fairmont State for as early as I can remember, my first basketball camp was a Joe Retton Basketball camp in my hometown,” he said. “A few summers ago, I even spent a summer helping (former) Coach Calhoun with Falcon Camp.”
