Fairmont State SGA to Hold Second Annual Christmas with a Falcon Program

Nov 16, 2021

In partnership with elementary and middle schools throughout Marion County, Fairmont State University’s Student Government Association has announced the continuation of its Christmas with a Falcon sponsorship program.

The inaugural program, held last year, sought monetary support from community members and organizations to ensure that local children had presents to unwrap on Christmas morning. According to SGA President Zach Taylor, the program was established in the spirit of giving and exemplifies the Falcon Family’s commitment to helping others in need.

“There is nothing we wouldn’t do for the community that supports us so much,” he said.

Taylor said that last year’s campaign was met with generous support and that he looks forward to seeing area residents and businesses come together once again to brighten the holidays for their neighbors.

“Last year, SGA was fortunate enough to not only meet, but exceed its goal of providing gifts to 150 kids,” said Taylor. “This year, we want to top that and provide for at least 200.”

A $100 donation sponsors one child, but all contributions are welcome. Once funds have been raised, SGA will coordinate the buying, wrapping and delivering of all gifts.

“The Christmas with a Falcon program represents the huge beating heart of our Falcon Family,” said Fairmont State University President, Mirta M. Martin. “We don’t just educate young men and women at Fairmont State – we also nurture and grow their Falcon Hearts. I’m so very proud of these empathetic future citizen leaders, and I urge everyone in our community to give generously to this program and help brighten the Christmas mornings of children in need.”

Donations can be made online by visiting the Fairmont State University Foundation website at fsufoundation.org/giving/give. All donations made should be designated to the Falcon Fund, indicating the funds are for the Christmas with a Falcon Program. Checks are also accepted and can be made payable to Fairmont State University and mailed to Merri Incitti at 1201 Locust Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554.
