Feb 07, 2022

Kestrel: A Journal of Literature and Art and the Fairmont State University Department of Humanities are pleased to announce the publication of Kestrel 46, the Winter 2021 - 2022 issue.

Kestrel 46 features visual art by Miles Holbert and poetry and prose by returning contributors John M. Blair, Ace Boggess, Marc Harshman, Michael Milburn, Devon Miller-Duggan, John Moessner, Stephen Myers, Ellen McGrath Smith and Richard Terrill. First-time contributors include Emma Aylor, Patricia Caspers, Mark Crimmins, John Cullen, Mark Danowsky, Rupert Fike, Tom Gartner, Bunny Goodman, Hayley Harvey, Lily Lauver, Nathan Leslie, B.D. Love, Angie Macri, Al Maginnes, Nathan Manley, Roger Mensink, Jory Mickelson, Jane C. Miller, Elizabeth Morse, Roger Sedarat, Greg Sendi, Michael Spence, Adrielle Stapleton and Rose Strode.

"Not only does this exceptional issue of Kestrel present writing that’s changed editorial policies, but it also contains visual art, poetry and prose in which important shifts of perspective follow unexpected forms of vulnerability," said Kestrel Poetry Editor, Elizabeth Savage.

Since 1993, Kestrel has published writers and artists from around the world, and since 2008 has celebrated each biannual issue by bringing contributors to Fairmont State’s campus for a weekend of literary events. Due to the ongoing pandemic, a virtual Celebration for Kestrel 46 will be held in June.

“Kestrel is truly a gem, and I always look forward to experiencing contributions to this exceptional literature and art journal,” said Fairmont State University President, Mirta M. Martin. “The voices I encounter in Kestrel’s pages are always so authentic and surprising. I’d like to extend a most sincere thanks to the Kestrel staff and to each of the talented artists included in this volume. Congratulations to all.”
