Homecoming 2016 Parade Entries Needed

Aug 31, 2016

The traditional Homecoming Parade for Fairmont State University presented by the Office of Student Activities will begin at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Sep. 29, in downtown Fairmont. This year’s Homecoming theme is “There’s No Place Like Fairmont.”

Line-up for the parade will begin at 5:15 p.m. at Everest Street and Kirkway Drive below the Marion County Rescue Squad. The parade route will run up Fourth Street right onto Fairmont Avenue, which becomes Adams Street, and will pause in front of the Marion County Courthouse for the judging of student floats. The parade will end near Veterans Square.

Any team, marching group, organization, political candidate, community group or business interested in having a float or car in the parade should fill out a parade entry form online at http://www.fairmontstate.edu/alumni/sites/default/files/parade-float-rules-forms.pdf or call the Office of Student Activity at (304) 333-3692. The deadline to register is Thursday, Sep. 8.

A Pep Rally for the Fighting Falcons will be held at 9 p.m. at the gravel lot by the tennis courts on the main FSU campus. The event will be held rain or shine, and s’mores and other refreshments will be served.
