Fairmont State University has received $71,101 in grant funding through the West Virginia IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (WV-INBRE) to equip the Applied Biomechanics & Human Performance Laboratories with peripheral nerve stimulation, ultrasound, and electromyography equipment. Fairmont State University continues to strengthen its academic enterprise by welcoming a new Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs. Dr. Abbey Zink, a West Virginia native, will officially join the University on April 13, 2026, bringing nearly 15 years of senior academic leadership experience and a demonstrated commitment to advancing faculty success—an essential component of institutional excellence and student achievement. Currently, Dr. Tim Oxley serves as both the Associate Provost and Dean of the College of Business and Aviation. He will be assisting with Dr. Zink’s transition into the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs position prior to his planned retirement in June.

This year’s ambitious fundraising goal is $800,000, which will provide critical support for students and programs across campus.
Fairmont State University is pleased to announce that after the Master of Architecture Program achieved its three-year Initial Accreditation status in 2022, it has now been awarded its first term of Continuing Accreditation by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). This allows West Virginia’s only professional degree program in Architecture to continue to grow and develop for eight years before the next accreditation visit. The program’s term of Continuing Accreditation is effective from January 1, 2025, and runs until 2033.
