Student Qualifies for National Debate Tourney

A member of the Fairmont State University Intercollegiate Debate Team has qualified for the National Forensics Association National Tournament to be held in Nashville in April 2008.

Dusty Van Pelt qualified for the national tournament by placing third in the Lincoln Douglas event at the recent Collegiate Forensics Association Fall Tournament at Shepherd University. The tournament featured speech and debate competitors from Bridgewater College, California University of Pennsylvania, Shepherd Univeristy, Randolph Macon College, Alderson Broaddus College and Fairmont State.

FSU's Intercollegiate Debate team competes throughout the eastern and midwestern United States in Lincoln Douglas Debate. Debate is open to students from all majors. The team is coached by Aimee Richards, Temporary Assistant Professor of Communication.
