Governor Patrick Morrisey has issued a proclamation declaring a full-day holiday on Thursday July 3, 2025, for public employees in addition to the July 4 holiday. Fairmont State University will re-open on Monday, July 7 and will be back to the summer compressed schedule of 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Friday.

Cunningham Awarded PMCC Instructor Certification

Amy Cunningham, Instructor and Clinical Coordinator for the Health Information Technology Program of Fairmont State Community & Technical College, recently became a Certified PMCC Instructor with the American Academy of Professional Coders.

To become a certified Professional Medical Coding Curriculum (PMCC) instructor, individuals must be a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders, be a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and have 5 years of coding experience.

The certification process entailed a rigorous three-day training session. At the end of the session, each participant was required to complete a written examination and an impromptu oral presentation. Cunningham exceeded the minimum requirements for the passing rate by receiving a composite score of 95 out of 100.

In addition to this certification, Cunningham is also a Certified Professional Coder, a Registered Health Information Administrator and a Certified Tumor Registrar.
