Governor Patrick Morrisey has issued a proclamation declaring a full-day holiday on Thursday July 3, 2025, for public employees in addition to the July 4 holiday. Fairmont State University will re-open on Monday, July 7 and will be back to the summer compressed schedule of 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Friday.

2005 W.Va. Brass Academy Offered

Fairmont State, in conjunction with the Appalachian Brass Quintet, will offer the 2005 West Virginia Brass Academy from June 19 to 24 on the FS campus.

This academy is open to all intermediate and advanced high school students who have completed the eighth grade. All students attending the academy will be performing in three different ensembles each day, as well as participating in master classes and workshops on music theory, history of brass and jazz improvisation. Students will also have private lessons and concerts by professional musicians. Students may enroll as full-time residents requiring residence hall accommodations or as commuter students.
