Cooler weather is on the way. And who doesn’t love Autumn at Fairmont State? The air is crisp, the leaves are changing, and campus life is absolutely buzzing with activity. This month President Davis talks with Prof. Joel Dugan about the mural that he and his students painted in honor of the Falcon Center’s 20th anniversary. We will celebrate with an official unveiling in November.
In this month’s video, President Davis shares updates and resources for students, employees, alumni and our community. And special guest, J.R. Lowery, Executive Director of Auxiliary Events and Services, highlights a host of fall events and tells us more about The Soar Store, Fairmont State’s “brand” new shopping destination.
This month’s presidential update take us to the Hupp Skylab, in the Ruth Ann Musick Library on Fairmont State’s campus. This computer and study lab is named for Mary Alice Hupp, who was worked for 17 years as a professor and coordinator of library services at our university. President Davis also provides some updates on summer projects and then chats with Dr. Lindsey Guinn, Fairmont State University’s new-ish Executive Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
In this month’s video, President Davis provides some exciting updates on the Spirit Store, introduces us to our newest Falcon and Provost, Dr. Allen Bedford, and recognizes the impact Fairmont State had on our community during the Father’s Day Flood response.
Summer is here, and while most students have moved out of the residence halls, our campus is still abuzz with activity. This summer we’ll hold events for new and potential students like Orientation, Senior StartUP, and Finish What You Started. We also will hold several events this summer that bring community visitors to campus.
This month, President Davis talks with Alumni Director Amy Snively and Alumni Association Board President Nick Fantasia. The trio highlights the benefits of being a member of the alumni community and the many ways alumni can get involved.

This month President Davis looks back at our busy and successful February and then previews March events including the Encova Career Development Center All-Majors Career Fair on March 12.

Fairmont State University began the spring 2025 semester with its Spring Kick-Off, where President Mike Davis shared leadership updates and unveiled the university’s new strategic vision, A Great Place to Learn, Work, and Call Home. President Davis emphasized a growth mindset in addressing higher education challenges and highlighted upcoming events, including Fairmont State Day at the Capitol and the annual Fairmont State Day of Giving.
To our new students, faculty and staff—welcome to Fairmont State University. I know you made the right choice to be here and can’t wait to see how your journey unfolds. To those returning Falcons and those who never left (thank you staff!) welcome back. Happy 2025!
