Connecting with West Virginia Communities in 2027
Connecting with West Virginia Communities in 2027
Fairmont State is taking its mission on the road in 2027, continuing an annual tradition of connecting with West Virginia communities.
On the Road with Fairmont State brings University leaders, students, faculty, staff, and alumni together with community members to listen, learn, and build lasting partnerships.
With North Bend State Park as its home base, the 2027 visit will offer opportunities to explore surrounding communities, share experiences, and have meaningful conversations about how we can work together.
Fairmont State is committed to being more than a university located in West Virginia. We are a university for West Virginia.
On the Road is an opportunity to connect with local leaders, schools, businesses, community organizations, alumni, families, and residents to better understand their communities’ needs, priorities, and opportunities. Each conversation helps us explore how Fairmont State can serve as a resource, strengthen existing relationships, and build new partnerships that continue beyond the visit.
Located near Cairo and Harrisville in Ritchie County, North Bend State Park will serve as the group’s gathering place throughout the trip. Between community visits, participants will reconnect, reflect on what they have learned, and experience West Virginia together.
Planning is underway for visits to communities throughout the surrounding region. The visit will focus on connecting with alumni, businesses, schools, and community organizations, learning what makes each place distinctive, and exploring opportunities to work together.
Dates, community stops, and public event details will be shared as plans are finalized.
On the Road is about meeting people, understanding their communities, and creating reasons to stay connected.
We look forward to meeting the people who make this region of West Virginia special.
If you represent a school, business, community organization, or local initiative—or are an alumnus interested in connecting during the visit—we welcome the opportunity to hear from you.
