Student's Artwork Featured on President's Holiday Card

Dec 14, 2011

This fall, Fairmont State University students had an opportunity to be the first student in recent history to have their artwork featured on the University president’s holiday card. Students were asked to submit a drawing, photograph or digital image that they created to appear on the card.

“We are excited to provide yet another opportunity for our students to be first,” said FSU Interim President Maria Rose. “What better way to say happy holidays from FSU than on a holiday card showcasing the talent of one of our very own students.”

Kenji Yamashita, a junior from New Jersey, created the winning image, an interpretation of a gingerbread Falcon Center.

“Of the many submissions we received, Kenji’s attention to detail and creative approach stood out,” said Jessica Sharps, Director of Publications. “This project is an excellent example of the talent and creativity of our student body.”

In addition to the honor of being featured on the holiday card, Yamashita received an iPad2.

“I am very honored to have had my picture chosen for the holiday card this year,” Yamashita said. “To see my work publicized like this is truly amazing.”
