School-Day performances available for The Addams Family Musical

Aug 31, 2018

The Fairmont State University theatre program is offering two school-day performances of “The Addams Family”, a musical comedy which includes themes of inclusion, acceptance, love, family, honesty, and coming of age. The performances will be Wednesday, October 31, and Thursday, November 1, at 9:30a.m. in the Wallman Hall Theatre on the campus of Fairmont State. The performance is 2 hours long and is appropriate for middle and high school students. The ticket price for each school day performance is $3 per student. Tickets for teachers and chaperones are free.

In this original story, the macabre family is put to the test when outsiders come to dinner. To add to the momentous night, Wednesday Addams has fallen in love with a young man, hurling Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, Grandmama, and Lurch headlong into a night that will change the family forever. Audience members can expect to be entertained as themes of the performance, including inclusion, coming of age, and family, intertwine effortlessly to create a relatable experience. “The Addams Family” is based on the characters created by Charles Addams, music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and the book created by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice.

Schools that reserve their tickets by October 12 can request a study guide and a 20-minute talk-back with the director, designers, and principal actors. They can also request a ghost story performance after the show at the Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center, home of the West Virginia Storytelling Guild.  For additional information, contact Dr. Francene Kirk at 304-367-4240 or fkirk@fairmontstate.edu.
