College of Science and Technology students recognized with awards, scholarships

Fairmont State University honored College of Science and Technology students for their academic achievement and named scholarship recipients at the 2019 Academic Awards Celebration on April 23rd. 

Many of the awards and scholarships presented at the banquet were made possible through gifts to the Fairmont State Foundation, Inc.

Department of Architecture and Graphics 

Blake Massie, a graduate of Musselman High School, received the Outstanding Senior in Architecture Award. An architecture major, he is the son of Eric and Laura Massie of Bunker Hill, W.Va. 

Nicholas Sams, a graduate of Parkersburg South High School, received the Outstanding Senior in Graphic Design Award. A graphic design technology major with a minor in art history, he is the son of Lisa and Craig Wix and Scott Sams of Parkersburg, W.Va.

Department of Computer Science and Mathematics 

Kristina Daniels, a graduate of Columbus High School, received the Ernest W. Frye Outstanding Senior in Computer Science Award. A computer science and mathetmatics major, she is the daughter of Eric Daniels of Clarksburg, W.Va. 

Anna Westfall, a graduate of Weirton Madonna High School, was the recipient of the James A. LaRue Outstanding Senior in Mathematics Award. She will graduate with a degree in computer science and mathematics and is the daughter of Rich and Jill Westfall of Follansbee, W.Va.

Kaitlyn Ault, a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, received the Outstanding Senior in Mathematics Education Award. A secondary mathematics teacher education major, she is the daughter of Frank and Darla Streets and Chris and Tommie Ault of Buckhannon, W.Va. 

Department of Engineering Technology

Ben Costello, a graduate of East Fairmont High School, was the recipient of the Outstanding Senior in Civil Engineering Technology. A civil engineering technology major, he is the son of Hugh and Sandra Costello of Fairmont, W.Va.

Christian Hamrick, a graduate of Buckhanon-Upshur High School, was awarded Outstanding Senior in Electronics and Engineering Technology. An electronics engineering technology major, he is the son of Sara Riffle and Chris Hamrick of Buckhannon, W.Va. 

Megan Talbott, a graduate of South Harrison High School, received the Outstanding Senior in Mechanical Engineering Technology Award. She is a mechanical engineering technology major with a minor in electronics engineering technology and the daughter of Chris and Sharon Talbott of Lost Creek, W.Va. 

Aaron Morris, a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, was awarded Outstanding Senior in Occupational Safety. An occupational safety major, he is the son of David and Belinda Morris of Fairmont, W.Va. 

Department of Natural Sciences 

Eamonn Cronin, a graduate of Musselman High School, was the recipient of the Outstanding Senior in Biology Award. A biology major, he is the son of Dan and Christi Cronin of Inwood, W.Va.    

Allison Moore, a graduate of East Fairmont High School, received the William D. Ruoff Outstanding Senior in Chemistry Award. She is a chemistry major and the daughter of Henry and Jane Moore of Fairmont, W.Va.

Amanda Smith, a graduate of Elk Valley Christian School, was the recipient of the Outstanding Senior in Forensics Science. A forensic science major, she is the daughter of Sherry Jarvis and Wayne Smith of Elkview, W.Va.

Erica McCoy, a graduate of Glen Burnie High School, was awarded the Outstanding Senior in Science Education. She is a secondary science education major with a minor in biology, the daughter of Paul and Cheryl McCoy of Glen Burnie, MD.

College of Science and Technology
