VEX State Tournaments to be held at Fairmont State University

Fairmont State University’s College of Science and Technology with the NASA’s Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) Program Education Resource Center (ERC), will host a series of VEX Robotics tournaments for elementary through college students at the Falcon Center. Events will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 6-8, 2020.

West Virginia's largest robotics weekend ever is happening here in Fairmont where there will be five tournaments held in a span of three days. The 4th Annual WV VEX University Qualifier will take place on March 6, from 12-8 p.m., welcoming teams from the entire eastern seaboard to participate in a “VRC (VEX Robotics Competition) Tower Takeover.” Saturday March 7, from 9-4 p.m., will be the West Virginia 2020 VEX Middle and High School State Championship competitions with the same theme. 

Finally, on Sunday March 8, from 9-4 p.m., will be held the West Virginia 2020 VEX IQ Elementary and Middle School State Championships competing for the “Squared Away” title.  Overall this weekend’s tournaments will feature over 200 teams from across WV with over 1,000 students participating. These events are all free and open to the public, with the elimination matches taking place from 1-4 p.m.

The WV Robotics Alliance, located at NASA’s IV&V Program, supports competitions, off-season events and trainings for 13 unique robotics competitions including FIRST Robotics, VEX, Skills USA, REC Foundation AerialDrone, World Robot Olympiad and, Zero Robotics.
