Fairmont State University will unite alumni, donors, friends, faculty, staff, and students for its annual Day of Giving campaign on Thursday, February 26, 2026, for a 24-hour celebration of Falcon pride and collective philanthropy. This year’s ambitious fundraising goal is $800,000, which will provide critical support for students and programs across campus.
The entirely student-led cafe will embed paid, credit-bearing leadership roles into the heart of campus, advancing Fairmont State’s commitments to experiential learning, career readiness, and student success.
Fairmont State University has joined the John N. Gardner Institute for Excellence in Higher Education’s (Gardner Institute) “Transforming the Postsecondary Experience” initiative. The Gardner Institute is a leading national non-profit organization that focuses on teaching, learning, student success, and completion.
Fairmont State University is pleased to announce that after the Master of Architecture Program achieved its three-year Initial Accreditation status in 2022, it has now been awarded its first term of Continuing Accreditation by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). This allows West Virginia’s only professional degree program in Architecture to continue to grow and develop for eight years before the next accreditation visit. The program’s term of Continuing Accreditation is effective from January 1, 2025, and runs until 2033.

In October 2023, Fairmont State University partnered with the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) in Lewisburg, WV, to launch the Pre-Osteopathic Medicine Program (POMP). This program guarantees Fairmont State students who meet all the requirements are accepted into WVSOM, creating a direct and seamless pathway to medical school.
While some sponsored programs last multiple years and have outcomes and outputs that take time for the campus to see, others have more immediate impacts. The First-Generation Student Success Grant awarded through West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (WVHEPC) in August 2025 is one such project.
Fairmont State University will honor the Fall 2025 graduating class during Commencement on Saturday, Dec. 13 in the Feaster Center. The morning ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and will recognize graduates from the College of Business & Aviation, the College of Liberal Arts, and the Regents Bachelor of Arts program. The afternoon ceremony, scheduled for 2 p.m., will honor graduates from the College of Education, Health and Human Performance, the College of Nursing, and the College of Science & Technology.
Fairmont State University is now offering its Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice program in a fully online format, alongside the traditional on-campus option. Fairmont State University student Julia Kirby has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business. A native of Calvin, WV, Kirby is pursuing a double major in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Graphic Design.
