Academy for the Arts Accepting Fall Registrations

Sep 04, 2012

The Fairmont State University Academy for the Arts is now accepting registrations for its fall term classes and music lessons. The Academy was formed last year and incorporates the former Community Music Program as the Music Preparatory Department and preparatory departments in other arts areas.

The fall term begins Monday, Sept. 10, and runs through Nov. 17.  Classes include art exploration, creative drama, acting for teens, improvisation and beginning clogging in dance.  Music classes include guitar and show choir for children and teens. The recently formed competitive clogging team also continues. Individual music lessons are available in piano, voice, guitar, percussion and the full range of brass and reed instruments.

The Academy utilizes Fairmont State facilities and highly qualified instructors drawn from Fairmont State faculty and area teachers. The Academy is a member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, using its standards as a base for its curriculum. The Academy for the Arts is integral to Fairmont State’s long standing identification with its community, in particular the cultural and social development of the region.
