Exhibit by Evan Boggess on Display through Nov. 8

"Pressure/ Heat/ Time,” an exhibition of paintings by Evan Boggess, will be on display at Fairmont State University in October and November.

The exhibit will be open from Monday, Oct. 7, through Friday, Nov. 8, in the James David Brooks Gallery, located on the fourth floor of Wallman Hall. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Admission is free and open to the public. The Department of Art will host a public reception from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Evan Boggess is a native West Virginian artist who works in the eastern panhandle of the state. His work is widely shown with recent solo or group exhibitions in Miami, Baltimore, Chicago, Arlington, Cincinnati, Raleigh, Scranton and all over the Mountain State. Boggess is currently the Visiting Artist at Marywood University in Scranton, Pa., for the 2013-2014 school year.  

 Boggess received his Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Marywood University in Scranton, Pa., in 2006. In 2005 he co-founded the Test Pattern Art Space of Scranton and was a manager there until 2007.  He later attended the Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where he received his Master of Fine Arts degree in 2011. During his first year there, he was nominated to represent MICA at the NEXT Juried Exhibition at the ARTChicago Fair. Boggess went on to be nominated by MICA for consideration in several other opportunities, including the Dedalus Foundation Fellowship and the Joan Mitchell Foundation Fellowship. He is also an alumnus of the 2011 Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
