QuickBooks Workshop Scheduled for Feb.

Jan 27, 2006

Although most small business owners are worried about revenue, running a business involves a lot of other tasks. Depending on the type of business, you may need to invoice customers, record payments from customers, pay your own bills to outside vendors, manage inventory and 'in your "spare time" ' analyze your financial data to see where you need to focus your next efforts. QuickBooks is a tool you can use to automate the tasks you're already performing as a business owner.

A 12-hour, hands-on QuickBooks workshop series is scheduled for February 14, 16, 21, and 23 (Tuesdays and Thursdays) from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Fairmont State Community & Technical College Center for Workforce Education, 320 Adams St., Suite G01, Fairmont.

The total cost for the workshop is $300 per person for the four day, 12-hour seminar. The registration fee may be eligible for reimbursement through the Small Business Workforce grant program (details and application available upon request). This training session is open to the public and is being conducted by the Fairmont State Community & Technical College Regional Small Business Development Center.

The seminar will cover the basics of QuickBooks 2005. Topics will be appropriate for those who currently are running QuickBooks, who plan to run QuickBooks 2005 or are considering using QuickBooks 2005.

"This software is a tool you can use to streamline the various accounting and financial management functions that every business owner should perform," said Tim James, an SBDC Business Analyst who has presented this training program to many different companies.

Basic computer skills are a requirement for attendees. As seating is limited, persons interested in attending the seminar should pre-register by calling (304) 367-4920 or sending an e-mail to tjames@fairmontstate.edu.

The SBDC is partially funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration though such funding does not constitute an expressed or implied endorsement of any of the co-sponsors or participants opinions, products or services. All SBDC workshops are co-sponsored by the West Virginia Development Office. Special arrangements for the handicapped can be made by contacting the SBDC at (304) 367-4920, at least one week in advance.
