New Students

Welcome to Fairmont State Unviversity.  We are here to provide you with the tools and resources to assist you being successful at FSU.  Below you will find a 'checklist' to assist you in assuring that you are ready to begin FSU.

  • Make formal application and be admitted in a degree or certificate granting program.
  • File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov.
  • Review your mycampus and FELiX account on a regular basis for additional information requests. 
  • Review, Complete, and Return all requested documentation as soon as possible.
  • Register for your courses. Many state and institutional programs require a student to be enrolled full-time (12+ hours) while many federal programs require half time enrollment (six to eight hours). A less than half time student may be eligible for a Pell Grant and other funds such as the Higher Education Adult Part-Time Student Grant (WV Residents only).Register for your classes: Be at least a half time student (six to eight hours). A less than half time student may be eligible for a Pell Grant or a WV Higher Education Adult Part-Time Grant (Residents only).
  • If you accepted federal loans to assist you with covering your cost of education, you will need to complete an Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note at studentloans.gov

 

Returning Students

Welcome Back! Below you will find a 'checklist' to assist you in assuring that you are ready to begin your next year at FSU.

  • File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov.
  • Review your mycampus and FELiX account on a regular basis for additional information requests.
  • Review, Complete, and Return all requested documentation as soon as possible.
  • Review your Academic Progress Status on your FELiX account to assure that you are not on academic probation or suspension.

  • Register for your courses. Graduate Students

Congratulations for making the decision to further your education and your success in obtaining your undergraduate degree.  New opportunities are awaiting you as a graduate student.  Below you will find a 'checklist' to assist you in assuring that you are ready to begin your next year at FSU.

  • Make formal application and be admitted in a Master's degree program if you are a new student.
  • File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov.
  • Review your Academic Progress Status on your FELiX account to assure that you are not on academic probation or suspension if you are a returning student.
  • Register for your courses. Federal programs require half time enrollment (five hours).

 

Transfer Students

As a student who has attended one or more educational institutions other than Fairmont State, we welcome you to Fairmont State University.  Below you will find a 'checklist' to assist you in your transition to FSU and the financial aid process.

  • Make formal application and be admitted in a degree or certificate granting program.
  • File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov.
  • Review your mycampus and FELiX account on a regular basis for additional information requests.
  • Review, Complete, and Return all requested documentation as soon as possible.
  • Register for your courses. Many state and institutional programs require a student to be enrolled full-time (12+ hours) while many federal programs require half time enrollment (six to eight hours). A less than half time student may be eligible for a Pell Grant and other funds such as the Higher Education Adult Part-Time Student Grant (WV Residents only).Register for your classes: Be at least a half time student (six to eight hours).   • Be sure to cancel any pre-registration at your previous institution and cancel any unused awards.
