Staff Spotlight Impact

Staff Spotlight

There are probably staff members across campus that you work with a lot, or even depend on, but actually know very little about or have never even met in person. Well, to remedy that situation, the Staff Council will spotlight a member of the staff so you can get to know them a little bit better. Our current Spotlight is...

Cody Haskiell

Cody Haskiell is the Residence Director of Morrow, Pence and Prichard Halls! His office is located on the 2nd floor of Morrow Hall. He is a graduate of Fairmont State University class of 2019.

In Cody's words...

Cody Haskiell What do you like most about working at Fairmont State?  I enjoy getting to   see students grow and graduate. When I get to see a freshmen move into the   halls, then see them go from somebody who is unsure about college or what   they want to do, and I see them grow over time and become confident, make   friends, and eventually graduate, it feels great. I also love the community here,   I've lived on campus either as a student or staff member since 2015ish, and there   are so many people on this campus who helped shape me into the person I've become!

What do you like to do in your free time?  I love playing games, video games, board games, pretty much anything involving gaming. I also love spending time with my cat whose name is JPEG.

Where are you originally from?  I'm from Tunnelton over in Preston County, about 45 minutes away.

If money was no object, what would you do with it?  Probably play video games or Dungeons and Dragons, I am a big nerd and would spend my free time on my hobbies. I'd probably eventually get bored enough to travel.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?  Growing up I wanted to be a video game designer, I still love gaming and game design, but realized in college that I enjoyed working with college students, and that I was better suited for this type of career.

What is an interesting or fun fact about yourself?  My grandparents on my mom's side of the family, who I spent a huge chunk of my childhood with, built their home completely underground, and I did not realize this is an abnormal thing until I was in middle school. They also raised orphaned deer on their property, which also was something I was unaware was not a normal thing until I was a bit older.
