All campuses of Fairmont State University will return to regular operations on Wednesday, January 28.
Supervisors and faculty are asked to exercise maximum flexibility regarding remote work, to ensure the continued safety of those impacted by the storm. Please consult with faculty or supervisors if you are unable to safely return to campus.
Operational updates follow:
The Weather Committee continues monitoring the impact of Winter Storm Fern. If additional updates are necessary, they will be communicated in a timely manner through our emergency alert system, email, social media, and the University website.
Note that due to this weather system, we anticipate the top deck of the parking garage will remain closed for the coming days. (This location accounts for a significant portion of winter slip, trip, and fall injuries on campus. To support the integrity of the structure, salt or other ice melting agents cannot be used. Structural deterioration from de-icers can lead to major repairs costing hundreds of thousands of dollars.) The University will alert motorists via large yellow signs posted at the traffic circle, near Turley Center, and at the top of the hill.

Learning doesn't stop when you leave a classroom! Tutors are trained to help you develop more confidence in your academic skills and serve as a support network all semester.
No. The LEAD Center has a strict no-cheating policy. We are happy to help you prepare for your exam but will not help you take it. For homework, we will work through similar problems or help check your work but will not do problems for you.
Since scheduled appointments are monitored by Navigate, session times can range from 30 minutes to one hour if you have reserved a spot ahead of time. For example, Writing Support sessions are scheduled by Navigate to last 30 minutes while an appointment for MATH 1407 will last an hour. Drop-in sessions are as long as needed and do not have a pre-set time. On average, students stay for a little over an hour.
Services are 100% free for all Fairmont State students and there is no limit to how often you may visit.
You should bring the assignment or list of topics you are working on, notes, your book, and any teacher feedback.
The LEAD Center is not a paper editing service! Tutors will only go over papers with the writer present in order to provide feedback and instruction so students can learn more effective writing practices, such as revising and editing. If you are struggling with citations or formatting, please refer to our Reading and Writing resources.
Tutors are here to help you develop the skills necessary to be successful and confident in a course. However, ultimately your grades are your responsibility.
Professors can check a student's LEAD Center attendance by visiting the "History" tab on a student's profile on Navigate.
