Take a Kid to the Game Day Planned

Jan 24, 2006

All youth are invited to attend the Fairmont State men's and women's basketball double header Saturday, Feb. 4, against Bluefield State College at Joe Retton Arena.

Kids will have an opportunity to experience the college game-day atmosphere when FS hosts NCAA Basketball's eighth annual Take a Kid to the Game Day Celebration. Those ages 14 and younger will receive free admission when accompanied by an adult. Adults accompanying youth will receive half-price general admission tickets for $3.

"We are pleased to extend this invitation to the Fairmont and Marion County community as we bring children to experience a collegiate athletic event," said Athletic Director Scott Gines. "It is our hope that there will be a record turnout as more and more children are able to take advantage of this experience and program."

Tickets can be purchased at the game. Youth groups of 10 or more can reserve tickets at www.fightingfalcons.com or by calling (304) 367-4220.

FS is hosting one of more than 700 games that will be played across the nation this season as part of the Take a Kid to the Game program. NCAA Basketball is a national sponsor of the Take a Kid to the Game program. TAKG is a grassroots marketing campaign created by Host Communications, Inc., to encourage alumni and fans to take their kids out to stadiums and arenas to experience college athletics. The Fairmont State Alumni Association is an event co-sponsor. Fairmont Pepsi Bottling Group will provide free bottles of Mountain Dew MDX for all fans in attendance, and FS Athletics will provide summer camp information to all parents and youth in attendance.
