Fourth Annual Falcon Day of Giving scheduled for Thurs., Oct. 27

Oct 24, 2022

The 2022 Falcon Day of Giving is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 27. This 24-hour campaign encourages alumni and friends of Fairmont State University to donate to the areas that matter most to them. For this fourth-annual event, the Fairmont State Foundation has set a goal of $350,000.

“Falcon Day of Giving has proven year after year that the Falcon community believes in Fairmont State’s mission,” said President of the Fairmont State Foundation, Rachel Rae Dyer. “This year, 57 campus programs are participating, allowing donors to support the University in areas that are most meaningful to them. We’re excited to embark on the fourth-annual Falcon Day of Giving on October 27 and we hope Falcons near and far will join us in this 24-hour celebration of Fairmont State.”

In preparation for this year’s Falcon Day of Giving, donors have already pledged more than $150,000 for matches and challenges for scholarships, academics, athletics and University programs. Making a gift in these special areas unlocks matching dollars from these pledges, doubling the impact of a gift.

“Through the generosity of alumni and other friends of Fairmont State University, the annual Day of Giving empowers us to honor our steadfast commitment to providing affordable, life-changing educational experiences,” said Fairmont State University Interim President, Dr. Dianna Phillips. “These gifts allow us to enhance athletics, academics and countless other programs across campus, and directly enrich the education of our communities’ future professionals. These gifts shape the future of our communities as they help dreams become reality.”

To kick-off Falcon Day of Giving this year, alumni and friends are hosting special events prior to the big day:

  • The Fairmont State University Community Arts will hold a kick-off performance on Wednesday, October 26 at 7 p.m. in Wallman Hall Theatre.
  • The Marion County Chamber of Commerce will partner with the Fairmont State Foundation to host a happy hour event on Wednesday, October 26 at the Erickson Alumni Center.

Updates on total gifts received will be reported throughout the day on Fairmont State University and Fairmont State University Foundation social media platforms. In addition, highlights featuring interviews, special performances, challenges and donor shout outs will be available for viewing on social media during the 24-hour campaign.
