Fairmont State University’s Elementary Education program has been recognized by PraxisExam.org for having one of the best Praxis Elementary Education pass rates in the state of West Virginia.
“Our Education faculty accentuate the importance of preparing for the Elementary Education Praxis Exam,” said Dean of the College of Health, Education, and Human Performance Amanda Metcalf. “We emphasize standards measured on the exam during our classroom teaching experiences as well as encourage our Elementary Education students along their educational journey through various support resources. We are committed to developing high-quality educators and are thrilled to shine a light on this outstanding program.”
Fairmont State tied for #5 among other state universities for above average pass rates. The rankings were compiled based on admission rate, graduation rate, transfer, AP and dual enrollment credit programs, student support and resources, student-faculty ratio, cost of tuition, financial aid availability, alternative tuition plans, loan default rates, and student retention rates.
"We in the College of Education, Health and Human Performance are dedicated to preparing high quality educators; our students' performance on Praxis is one measure of their success and we are excited by their results,” said Education Department Chair Toni Poling.
The Elementary Education program is housed in the University’s College of Education, Health, and Human Performance. The Educator Preparation Program's (EPP) mission statement is "to prepare reflective and responsive educators who possess the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to help all students learn," and is supportive of the institution's commitment to excellence and transformational impact, but extends the meaning, specifically addressing the success of EPP candidates.
