Holiday Tree Lighting and Concert Set for Dec. 6

Dec 02, 2013

Two events on the shared main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College on Friday, Dec. 6, will celebrate the holiday season.

The Office of Student Activities is hosting a Holiday Tree Lighting, planned for 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in the second floor Main Street area of the Falcon Center. The campus choir will provide musical selections, and refreshments will be served. Other family friendly activities are planned for that evening, including an Ugly Sweater Photo Booth. Businesses are invited to set up display booths, and any interested business or agency should contact Robin Yeager, Director of the Falcon Center for FSU and Pierpont, at 304-367-4674 or at Robin.Yeager@fairmontstate.edu.

Also that evening, Fairmont State’s Department of Music will present its second annual Fête de Noël Holiday Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in Colebank Hall. A public reception will begin at 7 p.m. in Colebank Hall. Tickets are $10 for general admission at the door, $5 for seniors and FSU and Pierpont faculty and staff and free for FSU and Pierpont students and children. Contributions of food, clothing items and money for the Soup Opera in Fairmont will be collected. For more information about the Holiday Concert, call (304) 367-4219.

The concert celebrates the season and the spirit of giving and serves as an Honors recital recognizing the work of outstanding Music majors. Students selected by the Department of Music faculty for solo performances include Ben Male, guitar; Briana Pudsell, mezzo-soprano; Andy Grindle, trumpet; Elizabeth Bertovich, marimba; and Rayme Pullen, piano.
