Celebration of Student Scholarship Planned
The second annual Celebration of Student Scholarship is planned for Wednesday, April
16, in the Falcon Center Conference Rooms.
The event, which begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 3:45 p.m., is sponsored by the Office
of Research & Graduate Studies, the Undergraduate Research Program, the Honors Program
and the Office of Academic Affairs. Admission is free and open to the public.
Opening introductions and the first oral presentation session will start at 9 a.m.,
and a poster session is planned for 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. There will be a luncheon to
honor the presenters and their faculty mentors from noon to 1 p.m. in the Turley Center
Ballroom, followed by additional oral presentation sessions at 1:15 p.m.
The event is intended to showcase the creative work of students in a broad array
of disciplines with a special, dedicated day. Another purpose is to recognize those
faculty mentors whose guidance has helped students reach their academic goals. Student
efforts reflect the importance of independent, discipline-specific research as an
exceptional learning experience.
"The Fairmont State community is encouraged to attend and to support their fellow
students, colleagues and friends," said Dr. Phil Mason, Vice President for Research
& Graduate Studies.
