Owens Named Director of Clinical Experiences
Barbara Owens has been named Director of Clinical Experiences/ Assistant Professor
of Education at Fairmont State University.
Her responsibilities include placing student teachers and other preservice teachers
in public schools. She also serves as Director of the FSU/ Professional Development
Schools Partnership, which includes leading the overall partnership effort for FSU.
The FSU/PDS Partnership strengthens relationships and collaboration between higher
education and K-12 schools to support continuous enhancement of teacher quality. Owens
is on the Executive Board of the West Virginia Partnership for Teacher Quality.
She is a graduate of Fairmont State College, received an M.A. from West Virginia
University and has a West Virginia Administrative Certification. Owens was employed
by the Harrison County school system for 27 years as a language arts teacher at Bridgeport
Middle School. She was the sponsor of the school's yearbook, which received many distinguished
awards. While at Bridgeport Middle, she was also the WVU Teacher Education Coordinator
and Site Coordinator for Professional Development.
Owens and her husband Rod and three sons, John, Jeff and Greg reside in Bridgeport.
