The Fairmont State University Dance Team is a student led club sport that operates under the Fairmont State Department of Campus Recreation. We perform sidelines at football games and a pom routine at basketball halftime. We elect a set of officers that choreograph and teach our routines, as well as organize and manage team business.

The team holds a recital and attends competitions in the spring semester. We perform routines in the style of pom, lyrical, and jazz. Members have the opportunity to participate in solos, duos, and group routines. In 2022, our pom routine received a first overall award at the Extreme Talent Dance Competition. Along with the first place finish, over half of our solo and duo routines finished in the top 5 of their categories.

The team practices 4 days a week on routines as well as technique and strength training. Outside of practice and performances we organize bake sales, raffles, and dance camps. We also participate in many team building activities such as game day prep and dinner parties.

Auditions for each season are held the second week of the fall semester.  All current students enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at Fairmont State University are eligible to tryout and students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater. The season begins in August for football games, through winter for basketball, and ends in spring when competitions and recital are complete.
