The SPC is a student employment and professional development program at Fairmont State University. It combines meaningful on-campus work with training that helps you build the professional skills employers want most.

All undergraduate students are eligible to participate in the professional development program. You don't need pervious experience- just a willingness to learn, grow, and engage in professional development.

Students will have the opportunity to provide valuable support to a university department or office. These positions go beyond routine tasks, offering opportunities to take initiative, develop workplace skills, and contribute to meaningful campus projects.

Digital badges are verified credentials (similar to a certificate) issued by Fairmont State University through Accredible. They represent your completion of specific professional competencies. You can display these badges on your LinkedIn profile or resume to demonstrate your career readiness to employers.

No. SPC training and badges are provided at no cost to Fairmont State students.

Training modules are short and flexible- you can complete them at any time, including academic breaks. Individual modules are 20-30 minutes on average. Each badge takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete.

No. While the SPC works in partnership with student employment on campus, any interested student can complete the professional development training and earn badges.
