
The Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) partners with educational institutions and organizations to support student success efforts, offering the only nationally recognized certification in Effective Teaching. As an ACUE partner institution, Fairmont State University faculty and staff have access to all courses required to obtain the Effective Teaching certification, alongside a series of one-hour, self-paced Quick Studies courses tied to the Effective Teaching framework.

A separate Nursing Pathway is also available to faculty teaching both undergraduate and graduate nursing courses. This pathway is designed to connect with AACN competencies, and also provides 48 hours of Continuing Education credits to nursing faculty. Visit ACUE for more information.
To enroll in certification courses, open the ACUE Partnership Portal. For an in-depth overview of each course, hover over and click the title. Once you've decided which course you'd like to take, select "Enroll Now"" You will be prompted to enter your Fairmont State email address, where a one time code will be sent. Once you have entered the one time code in the ACUE Partnership Portal, a full list of available course offerings will appear for you to select. The ACUE Commons offers a series of Quick Studies and informational videos for use at any time. Quick Studies consist of one-hour, self-paced courses which tie directly to the Effective Teaching Framework.
All faculty and staff should receive an email from support@acue.org with detailed instructions for setting up your Fairmont State account to the ACUE Commons. Once your login has been created, you can access ACUE Commons at any time.
To join the Fairmont State Group, select the "Groups" tab in the top navigation bar. Next, click "Accept Invite" within the Fairmont State group icon. Be sure to check out the other available groups on this page, as there are several broader groups to choose from.
The Carnegie Corporation of New York Initiative for Deliberative Dialogue aims to provide instructors access to resources and strategies for cultivating civic and social skills into all disciplines. This series consists of five short courses where instructors will be introduced to the definition of deliberative dialogue, strategies for integration in the classroom, and preparing for facilitation. To access the series, select "See all courses" under the Quick Studies area of the Home page. Next, select the "Cultivating Civic and Social Skills" tab.
