BSN Program Goals/Expected Outcomes

End-of-Program Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Integrate a foundation in the liberal arts with nursing knowledge, skills, and professional values to provide person-centered care that enhances health outcomes for individuals and populations. (Essential I, V, VI, VIII)
  2. Collaborate with the interprofessional healthcare team usiing effctive communication, clincial judgment, and evidence-based reasoning to provide safe, ethical, and quality care. (Essential II, III, VI, VIII)
  3. Apply principles of health promotion and disease prevention, to address the social determinants of health to improve outcomes for individuals, familites, and communities. (Essential II, IV, V, VI, VII)
  4. Use information and healthcare technologies to manage data, support clinical decision-making, and enhance the delivery of safe, quality person-centered care. (Essential II, VII)
  5. Integrate leadership skills and systems thinking to advocate for patients, influence policy, and promote a cultue of safety and accountability within healthcare. (Essential III, VIII, IX)
  6. Engage in ongoing professional development by embracing leadership, scholarship, and lifelong learning to advance nursing practice and contribute to the discipline. (Essential VIII)

Essential refers to The Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice American Association of Colleges of Nursing [AACN], amended 2008). 

Program Outcomes

  1. Eighty percent (80%) of traditional students will pass NCLEX-RN on their first attempt.
  2. Sixty percent (60%) of BSN students will graduate within five years. 
  3. Twenty-five percent (25%) of BSN graduates will indicate they will pursue professional certification or graduate study within five years of graduation. 
  4. Seventy-five percent (75%) of BSN graduates will state that they have met the goals/student learning outcomes. 
  5. Seventy-five percent (75%) of BSN graduates will report overall program satisfaction.
