Connecting to FalconNET Wi-Fi

What is FalconNET?

FalconNET is a campus-wide wireless network for students, staff, and faculty.

How to Connect to FalconNET:

  1. Select FalconNET from your device’s wireless options.
  2. Enter your Fairmont State University email address and password:
    • Students: username@students.fairmontstate.edu
    • Staff/Faculty: username@fairmontstate.edu

If you are using an Android, ChromeOS, or Linux device, you may need to enter additional advanced settings listed below.

Advanced Settings for Android, ChromeOS and Linux Devices:

    • EAP Method: PEAP
    • Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
    • Certificate: Select “Do not check” or “Don’t validate”
    • Note: Some Android devices may require additional settings:
      • CA Certificate: Trust on First Use or Use system certificate
      • Online Certificate Status: Request certificate status
      • Domain: network.fairmontstate.edu

Connecting to FalconNET-RH Wi-Fi

What is FalconNET-RH?

FalconNET-RH is a wireless network designed for devices that are unable to connect to the standard FalconNET network.

Pre-Shared Key Access

Each resident is assigned a unique pre-shared key at the beginning of every semester. This key is sent to your Fairmont State University email address.

How to Connect Using Your Pre-Shared Key:

  1. Disconnect from any current wireless network.
  2. Connect to the FalconNET-RH wireless network.
  3. Enter your pre-shared key (password) when prompted.

If you need a new pre-shared key, follow the instructions below.

Connecting to Guest Wi-Fi

The Guest network provides basic internet access for university guests.

(NOTE: Faculty, staff, and students should not use this network and must connect to FalconNET)

To Connect to the Guest Network:

  1. Select Guest from your device’s list of available wireless networks.
  2. Open a browser window (Safari, Chrome, Edge, or Firefox).
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the connection.
