Information Technology Commons

The Information Technology Commons (or just the “Tech Commons” for short) is the division of the Office of Information Technology that deals directly with the campus community. We are located in room 139 of the Library and offer a variety of services specific to the students, faculty, and staff of Fairmont State University. From our Help Desk, we offer telephone, email, walk-in, and live chat support to assist the campus community. Please see below for our contact information and current hours of operation.

Services Provided:

  • Free campus-wide wireless connectivity to our network and to the internet. Residence Halls also have free wired access. 
  • Free technical support (phone, walk-in, email, and live chat). 
  • Network connection for Xbox and PlayStation game consoles in the Residence Halls. 
  • Open access computer labs and cloud access to lab software. 
  • Student email account and online file storage.


During the campus closure, IT Staff are available to provide support Monday through Friday via phone, chat, and email from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. We will be available after-hours through email at For more information please check
