Click here for help reauthenticating mobile E-Mail

With the new MFA updates, e-mail accounts on mobile devices may need reauthenticated by removing the e-mail account from the device and then re-adding it. An e-mail account may need reauthenticated if the account isn't able to send or receive e-mails.

To re-authenticate your e-mail from the Outlook client:

  1. Click your first initial in the top-left
  2. Click the settings button in the bottom-left
  3. Under "Mail Accounts" click on the account you want to re-authenticate
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the new page and click "Delete Account"
  5. Click "Add Mail Account" and "Add Email Account"
  6. If prompted to add a personal account, click "Skip." Otherwise, type in your FSU e-mail address and click "Add Account"
  7. Authenticate via multi-factor authentication (MFA). If you have the Microsoft Authenticator app, just click "Open Authenticator"

To re-authenticate your e-mail from the iOS Mail App:

  1. Go into the Settings app
  2. Click on "Mail"
  3. Press "Accounts"
  4. Select your FSU account, the default name is "Exchange"
  5. Press "Delete Account"
  6. At the bottom of the accounts list, click "Add Account"
  7. Select "Microsoft Exchange"
  8. Type in your Fairmont State E-mail Address and put a recognizable name in the description area.
  9. Select "Next" in the top-right and then click on "Sign-In"
  10. Sign in with your institution credentials and authorize Apple's request to access Outlook, if prompted.
  11. Click "Save"

To reauthenticate on an Android device:

Open your phone's Settings app. Tap Passwords & Accounts. If you don't see "Accounts," tap Users & accounts.

After re-adding the e-mail account, the e-mails should sync on the device within fifteen minutes.

  • Under "Accounts for," tap the account you want to remove, then Remove account.
  • To confirm, tap Remove account, then OK.
  • After the account has been removed, go to the Android E-mail Setup Guide (https://www.fairmontstate.edu/it/setting-email-android) for instructions on re-adding your Fairmont State e-mail account
