The Falcon Marching Band is the largest performing ensemble on campus and a strong advocate of school spirit and pride.
To ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff, the University will open at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23. All in-person classes starting before 10 a.m. are cancelled.
Students are advised to check Blackboard and campus e-mail for messages and/or assignments from faculty regarding classes before 10 a.m.
Employees should report to campus for 10 a.m. Some personnel necessary to the operation of the University, including those who work in the Physical Plant, Dining Services, the Falcon Center, and Public Safety, are considered essential employees and are expected to report to campus.
Please take caution when traveling to and from campus. Additional weather updates will be communicated through our emergency alert system, social media, and the University website.
Note that due to this weather system, we anticipate closure of the top deck of the parking garage for the next few days. (This location accounts for a significant portion of winter slip, trip, and fall injuries on campus. To support the integrity of the structure, salt or other ice melting agents cannot be used. Structural deterioration from de-icers can lead to major repairs costing hundreds of thousands of dollars.) The University will alert motorists via large yellow signs posted at the traffic circle, near Turley Center, and at the top of the hill.

Members of the marching band and color guard have the opportunity to hone their musical and artistic skills while building lifelong friends through our band family. The band is comprised of nearly 50 students and performs at home Falcon football games, various parades throughout the school year, and other special events.
The marching band fosters an atmosphere of inclusivity and is open to anyone with previous instrumental or color guard experience. If you’re interested in being a part of marching band or color guard please fill out this form.
Members of marching band must enroll in Marching Band. The course is open to students who play a band instrument or have the necessary skills to participate in one of the auxiliary units such as flags, rifles, or twirlers. The Marching Band performs at all home football games during the fall semester and at various marching band activities such as parades and festivals.
All students participating in band must attend the university's annual band camp: August 2-14, 2026.

Thank you for your interest in including the Fairmont State Falcon Marching Band for your event! To guarantee our ability to be able to be present, requests should be submitted at the start of the semester during which your event will be held or at a MINIMUM of 4 weeks in advance of the event. We will do our best to honor any requests we receive with less notice than this but cannot guarantee our availability for requests sent with less than 4 weeks notice.
All instruments owned by Fairmont State are available to full and part-time students for use in the instrumental music education classes and for registered performing ensembles. Instruments will not be checked out to persons for any other purpose. The college will make a reasonable effort to ensure that all instruments are in a good working condition before checking them out to any person in need of these instruments. At the end of each semester, each person is required to return the borrowed instrument in reasonable working condition or to make accommodations for extending permission to use the instrument for another semester. Each person who returns an instrument must report any defect or condition that should be corrected on the instrument before it is returned to active use. Under no circumstances will a student be permitted to use a school instrument over the course of the summer months unless music courses are implemented to accommodate the use of school owned instruments during this period.
