Dual Enrollment Impact

Dual Enrollment

The Fairmont State University Dual Enrollment Program is part of a larger state-wide effort to provide low cost early college access to qualifying West Virginia high school students.

Participants in Dual Enrollment courses attend their home high school while also being registered as students at Fairmont State.  Course work completed in the Dual Enrollment Program counts for both college level credit and toward high school graduation requirements.

Dual Enrollment programs have been shown to ease the transition of students from high school to college, shorten the time to degree completion, reduce the overall cost of a college degree, and increase degree attainment.

Dual Enrollment Pathways

To ensure that Dual Enrollment course offerings are closely aligned with academic majors and career outcomes for students the State of West Virginia mandates that all Dual Enrollment students select a Dual Enrollment Pathway.  These pathways are organized broadly around subject and major interest and are designed to provide a clear path forward for students while minimizing the potential of unnecessary coursework and expense.

If you don’t see a pathway that suits your specific interest, don’t panic! Our Dual Enrollment staff will be able to help you find the pathway that will most closely align with your goals and ensure you can participate in the program.
