Living on campus is an essential part of the Fairmont State University experience. Not only will you live in close proximity to your classrooms, you'll also be surrounded by your fellow students, forming friendships that can last a lifetime.
Follow the instructions below for more info on how to apply for and secure your room at one of our residence halls.
Fairmont State University requires four consecutive semesters of on-campus living for all first-time freshmen and first-time transfer students, except those who meet our exemption criteria.
To ensure that you get your preferred housing, we recommend that you apply for housing as soon as possible. If your plans to attend change, please contact us as soon as possible by emailing Reslife@FairmontState.edu.
To apply for housing, log into your myFairmontState account using your Unified Computer Account (UCA) and password. You must be admitted to the University, complete the Offer of Admission and then activate your UCA account before you can apply for housing.
Once you’re logged in, look for the Campus Resources card and click on the Housing & Residence Life link. This will take you to the Housing Portal. From there, click on “Housing Application” at the top of the page (you may have to log in again), choose the term you’re applying for, and complete the application. For the best experience, we recommend not using Internet Explorer when filling out your application.

Currently, we do not offer non-traditional campus housing for students who are married or who have children. Students over the age of 25 may not reside in the residence halls. If you are over 25, you should seek housing off-campus. Cohabitation with a romantic partner is not permitted in campus housing.
Fairmont State University recognizes that same-sex room assignments are not ideal or appropriate for all students. Gender Inclusive Housing seeks to provide an environment that is welcoming to all gender identities and is not limited to the traditional gender binary (male and female). Gender Inclusive Housing allows for students signing up for these areas to be permitted to have roommates and suitemates regardless of gender identity.
Any student who is eligible to live on campus is eligible to apply and live in Gender Inclusive Housing. Students will not be required to reveal their reasons for opting to live in Gender Inclusive Housing, although romantic relationships within the same living space are not permitted.
