Applying For Housing

How to Apply

To apply for housing, log into your myFairmontState account using your UCA and password. New users need to activate their UCA account first. Once logged in, click "Housing" under the "Student Links" section of your portal. Click “Housing Application” at the top of the page, select the term for which you want to apply, and complete the housing application! For the best application experience, do not use Internet Explorer to complete your application. Should you encounter issues along the way, feel free to contact the Office of Housing and Residence Life at 304-367-4216 or at reslife@fairmontstate.edu. You can also visit us at our office in the 317 Suite of Turley Center.

Who Needs to Apply?

Fairmont State University requires four consecutive semesters of on-campus living for most students.  If your plans to attend have changed, you can cancel your housing application any time before May 31st in order to have your deposit refunded. We recommend that you apply as soon as possible. Check the list below to see if you should apply:

On-Campus Housing Age Policy

The Office of Housing and Residence Life does not offer non-traditional housing; students who are married, students with children, etc. Students over the age of 25 may not reside in traditional residence halls. Those students over the age of 25 are asked to seek housing off-campus, but may be considered for on-campus housing on a case by case basis. Cohabitation is not permitted by romantic partners.

Gender Inclusive Housing

Fairmont State University recognizes that same-sex room assignments are not ideal or appropriate for all students. Gender Inclusive Housing seeks to provide an environment that is welcoming to all gender identities and is not limited to the traditional gender binary (male and female). Gender Inclusive Housing allows for students signing up for these areas to be permitted to have roommates and suitemates regardless of gender identity.

Any student who is eligible to live on campus is eligible to apply and live in Gender Inclusive Housing. Students will not be required to reveal their reasons for opting to live in Gender Inclusive Housing, although romantic relationships within the same living space are not permitted.

If you have specific questions about Gender Inclusive Housing, please reach out to the Office of Housing and Residence Life at 304-367-4216 or reslife@fairmontstate.edu.
