Who may use the facility?


Paid community or employee memberships and students (taking classes on the Fairmont State Main Campus will be assessed a fee).

Can people from the community use the facility?

Yes!
We have a variety of memberships available, as well as daily guest passes for guests accompanied by valid members.

Do I have to bring my Falcon ID or Community Card every time I come to use the facility?

Yes!
Your Falcon or Community ID Card or you can use the Falcon Center App must be presented with each visit. No ID, No entry.

What attire is required to participate in the programs?

Appropriate athletic attire is required at all times. This includes wearing a shirt and non-marking soled shoes. No ball caps with metal clasps or clothing with belts, buckles, or chains are permitted. Swimsuits and swim footwear are limited to the aquatics area.  Please see the weight room policies and pool policies for more specifics regarding clothing requiements in those areas.

Can I rent a locker to use for the semester?

Yes!
Lockers are available for rent. Policies and Prices for locker rental are available at the Reception desk.

What’s included in The Recreation Center?

 

The Recreation Center consists of:

  • 5 Basketball courts
  • Volleyball courts
  • 4-lane lap pool, spa, sauna outdoor sun deck
  • Men’s and women’s locker rooms & 1 family changing/locker room
  • Equipment check out
  • 2 group exercise studios
  • Group Fitness Classes
  • Free weight, selectorized, plate loaded, and functional training equipment
  • Cardio equipment
  • Personal Training
  • Indoor Running/Jogging/Walking Track

Why do I need to bring my ID to enter the facility if I’m a Member?

 

All patrons are required to show their ID Card. Showing proper identification to the Entrance Attendant is the only acceptable method of proving your membership status. Students/Faculty/Staff & members who have lost their ID must get a replacement ID before they can use the facility.

Who may purchase a self-sponsor pass?

 

All Faculty/Staff may purchase a pass for themselves; a valid Fairmont State University I.D. must be shown

Do I need a lock for my locker?

 

No, lockers are available for daily use and we provide locks for checkout at the reception desk. If using a daily locker, you may bring a lock but it must be taken off by the end of the day. If you are renting a locker we provide combination locks.

Are towels available?

 

There are two types of towels offered in the Falcon Center: smaller hand towels for use in the fitness areas and larger shower towels both are issued at the Reception Desk. Both types of towels are free of charge. All towels must be returned to the Reception Desk prior to leaving the facility.

Can I reserve space in the Recreation Center?

 

Space may be reserved in various areas of the facility while keeping in mind that scheduled programs and the availability of drop-in recreation will always take precedence. Please contact the Jennie Sigman at 304-368-4090 for rental space of facilities and to discuss arrangements.

Do you have group fitness classes? What other classes are available?

 

Yes, and all of our basic classes are free to members! Classes are scheduled daily and vary each semseter, please view our fitness class page for the most current schedule.  Additionally you can stop by the Reception Desk to see an updated schedule as well as follow us on social media!

What equipment is available for check out?

 

A variety of equipment is available for free daily check out with ID card including basketballs, volleyballs, soccer balls, volleyballs, table tennis paddles, boxing gloves and more!

What is the policy regarding Food, Beverage, Tobacco and gum?

 

Food and beverages purchased at the one of the dinning areas must be consumed in those areas. Water and sports drinks in a non-glass bottle with a lid is permitted throughout the recreation facility.

Can I bring my Bikes/Pets/Roller Blades to the Recreation Center?

 

Bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, in-line skates or pets are not permitted inside the Falcon Center.  Only animals designated as guide/assistant or emotional suppport animals are permitted in the building.

Can I post signs or announcements within the facility?

 

Any request to post signs in the Falcon Center must be directed to the Director for approval based upon content and message. No handwritten signs will be approved. Please have a copy of your produced sign with you when making your request.  Signs may not be posted on exterior doors or windows.

Is soliciting allowed within the facility?

 

Soliciting is not permitted inside the Falcon Center. Organizations wishing to conduct promotional activities must schedule and pay for space by calling the Director of Falcon Center to conduct fundraising or promotional activities.

Can I take pictures or video inside the facility?

 

Approval must be obtained by Director of the Facility. Some groups may be offended by being filmed.

What is the layout of the Aquatic Center?

 

Our pool has a multi-use design incorporating four 25 yard lap lanes, areas for instruction and leisure swimming. Because this is not a competition pool, the water temperature will be a bit warmer, better suiting the variety of users. In addition, the aquatic center features a hot water spa and sauna.

What are the Aquatic Center Hours?

 

The pool will have hours similar to that of the building itself, but not all areas may be available at all times. Please visit the HOURS webpage for exact hours.

What aquatic programs will be offered?

 

We offer swimming lessons for children ages 6 months - 13 years of age as well as pool parties.

Who is eligible for Intramural Sports?

 

All students registered at Fairmont State University, who are assessed the recreational fee (or have at least 1 class on the main campus), are eligible to participate in intramural sport programs. Staff and faculty members are also eligible to participate in intramurals and must show a valid Falcon Center ID to enter the facility and verify eligibility.

How much does it cost to play intramurals?

 

There are no team or individual entry fees for any intramural activities.

How do I sign-up for intramurals?

 

You can sign up on ImLeagues or by attending an Intramural meeting (every Tuesday during the semester). For more information on Intramurals visit their web page.

What are some examples of Intramural Sports that might be offered?

 

The intramural schedule varies each semester. Intramural sports may include:

Can facility members from the community participate in intramural sports?

 

Only Fairmont State University Students, Faculty and Staff may participate in the intramural sports programs.
