Warning Grade Action Steps

Received an Early Alert Grade Notice of a D or F in one of your classes? You may want to consider:

  • Asking yourself, Have you been attending class regularly? Are you completing the required course content (discussion posts, homework assignments, projects, quizzes, exams, etc.) and submitting assignments on-time? 
  • Meet with the faculty member who instructs each course for which you have had an early alert grade notice for 4-week or midterm grade(s) posted. 
    • Ask for advice on how to improve your grade and be transparent about what you may be struggling with
    • Ask for extra help with the material you do not fully understand
  • Connect with The LEAD Center
    • Offers FREE tutoring and support to all students 
  • Connect with your advisor 
    • Go to your my.fairmontstate.edu
    • Find "Student Links"
    • Select "FELIX/Student Self Service" "Student Profile"
    • Your assigned advisor(s) will be listed at the bottom of the screen near the center!
  • Utilize Navigate Student's study buddies feature and connect with peers enrolled in the same course(s)! 
  • Drop-In to speak with a Financial Aid Counselor in Turley Student Services, M-F, 8-4
  • Connect with Mental Health Services
  • Connect with Accessibility Services

Four-week grades work as an early warning system to provide time for you to seek support toward achieving a passing grade.

Midterm grades serve as a warning system to provide time for you to seek support toward achieving a passing grade in your courses by end of term.
