  • Develop a Student Professional Corps (comprehensive learning-in-place program; via on-campus employment).
  • Train supervisors of student employees on mentoring and conducting evaluations.
  • Develop a career mentoring program for students working off-campus.
  • Enhance co-curricular, service learning, and civic engagement opportunities.
  • Formalize the acquisition of skills and experience through badges and micro-credentialling.

Professional Development Days

Support and professional development opportunities are provided by the Career Connections Coordinator to supervisors of student workers.

Under the direction of the Career Connections Coordinator, the student workers who participate in the Student Professional Corps, also known as SPCs, receive NACE Competency-based professional development and training to prepare them in career readiness. Stay tuned for the development of a career mentoring program by the Career Connections Coordinator for students working off-campus. Also under the direction of the Career Connections Coordinator, and in collaboration with campus and off-campus stakeholders, initiatives that target co-curricular, service learning, and civic engagement will be coming. 

Meet the Career Connections Coordinator

In this role, Nicole Samson, Career Connections Coordinator, is developing and implementing programs, initiatives, and activities that address career readiness, students’ personal and professional development through training, service learning, civic engagement and other co-curricular opportunities. She previously worked for McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm, for 10+ years where she managed the recruiting and hiring process of college students. In her role at McKinsey, Nicole developed a strong foundation in both practical and strategic aspects of HR and project management. She is eager to leverage her experiences to contribute to the success of the Title III Grant.

Nicole holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Emmanuel College (Boston).
