Fairmont State University's Traditional Associate of Science in Nursing Degree (ASN) (4 full-time semesters - fall and spring) is best suited for students who can attend classes and clinical throughout the week.
Upon graduation, the student receives the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree and is eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). The ASN nurse is prepared as a nurse to care for clients with common health problems in structured settings. The associate degree nurse's practice is defined by the roles of care provider, client teacher, communicator, manager of client care and member within the profession of nursing.
All applicants seeking admission to the Associate Degree Nursing Program are required to meet admission requirements for Fairmont State University and the College of Nursing.

The College of Nursing will review all qualified applicants after the priority deadline. Students should expect to hear about their admission status 4-6 weeks following completion of the review of applicants. Students may continue to apply after the priority admission date and will be reviewed as spots are available for admission or on the waiting list. If a student is not admitted for the selected semester, a new nursing application must be submitted.
Students are provisionally admitted to the program will receive an e-mail regarding required next steps, such as background checks, drug screening, immunizations, physical examination, health insurance, CPR, etc. Students must ensure submission and approval of all required documents prior to August 1st for Fall admission, January 1st for Spring admission, and May 1st for Summer Admission.
Students who have completed their first two semesters of the ASN program and have earned a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher and have been successful in their first attempt at all nursing courses are eligible to enroll in NURS 3320 (Health Assessment) and NURS 3360 (Nursing Ethics). Permission to do so is required from your academic advisor and the BSN faculty.
Following graduation, students who plan to transition into the BSN program must submit an application to the nursing program and meet the BSN program admission requirements.
