Experiential Learning in Ceramics: The Materiality of Clay (Group Lessons)

Description of course:

This course will consist of two sections of one three-hour class per week with Group 1 meeting on Mondays and Group 2 meeting on Tuesdays both during the hours of 12 p.m. — 3 p.m. The scope of this course will focus on exploring the manipulation of clay as a material to support each student’s vision for a sculpture of their own creative design. Students will be encouraged to think outside the parameters of tradition to push the material past the functionality that ceramics are known for. By the end of this course, students will have created an object that is new to them using elements of form, composition, and balance. This class will culminate into personal exploration that translates into invention, experimentation, and artistic discovery.

Experiential Learning in Ceramics: The Basics (Private Lessons)

Course Description:

Each session will be scheduled individually by appointment and offered every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between the dates of June 9th and July 16th. Two one-hour time slots between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. will be offered each day. Each student is not limited to only one session. Subject matter will vary depending on age and skill level and can include hand-building or wheel-throwing. Students will receive one-on-one interaction with the instructor to facilitate a basic understanding of the materials and process of ceramics as well as basic art elements of form and design. Lessons will cultivate a stronger sense of artistic intuition within students and encourage engagements in fearless self-expression through three-dimensional sculpting.

Experiential Learning in Printmaking: Digital Illustration and T-Shirt Creation

June 7th – July 7th, Mondays and Wednesdays

Course Description:

This two-section course has been designed to hold class two times a week on Mondays and Wednesdays for a two-hour duration between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. The course’s focus will be geared towards digital design exploration and the introduction of printmaking as a medium through the exciting process of t-shirt creation using silkscreen. Students will be introduced to “Procreate,” a digital drawing app that allows for the designing process to be reimagined outside of traditional pen and paper methods. Attention to detail, imagination, and a passion to create will be essential to this course.  Above all else, students will be encouraged to produce their own unique work, with an outcome of 2 prints on both fabric and paper.

Course Description:

This course will offer sessions scheduled by appointment between June 7th  and July 7th on Mondays and Wednesdays. Two, one-hour time slots will be available these days between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. or 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. There is no limit on sessions scheduled per student. The focus of this course will be geared towards a more in-depth exploration of digital design using “Procreate” and the printmaking medium, silkscreen, to produce a t-shirt of the student’s design. A one-on-one interaction between student and instructor will allow for the pace and content to be tailored to the student’s needs and skill level.

Leap Into Musical Theatre!

Course Minimum Enrollment: 5

Course Description:

Do you love to sing, dance, and act - all at the same time?! This is your opportunity to join in on the musical theatre fun! 

Leap Into Musical Theatre will explore singing, dancing, and acting techniques both as a solo performer and within a group. Each session will begin with group warm-ups, including acting, stretching, and vocal exercises. Then, students will perform and work on their songs one at a time in front of the group. Finally, each session will conclude with preparation for a group musical theatre number. 

Students are asked to prepare one musical theatre song before the beginning of the workshop, bringing their sheet music with them on Day 1. The piece doesn't have to be memorized, but they should be familiar with the song. At the conclusion of the workshop, students will have the option to perform their solo piece in addition to the group number for their friends and families!

Course Description:

Join Christian Cox with a fun crash course of an improv class. Exploring the popular short form of improv comedy, kids can explore the power of improv and their imagination.  Improv helps children on many levels of creative development and is a great source for young actors.  Each week will have a featured performance open to the family of children in the class.
