A Marion County native has arranged a planned gift to establish two scholarships supporting students in music education and occupational safety programs at Fairmont State University. The David Warren Harper, M.S., and Nancy Valentine Harper, Ed.D., Occupational Safety Scholarship, and the David Warren Harper, M.S., and Nancy Valentine Harper, Ed.D., Music Education and/or Education Scholarship have been created to honor the shared commitment to improve the lives of others and encourage a legacy of supporting students in these fields.

For the third consecutive year, Fairmont State University and the Tygart Valley United Way have partnered for the annual Day of Action, as part of Fairmont State’s Welcome Weekend celebrations. Day of Action incorporates community service into the Welcome Weekend programming and allows Falcons to interact with the surrounding community in a positive and impactful way.

Fairmont State University’s Falcon Center will welcome back its 6-week Falcon Day camp this summer from June 19 until August 4. Recently the Truist West Virginia Foundation and the Walmart Community Foundation gifted the Falcon Center with a grant so that families of children ages 6-12 can receive a full or partial scholarship for up to 3 weeks of camp. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is May 31, 2023.
