Employees of Fairmont State University can use AnyConnect to work remotely through VPN (virtual private network) when necessary to complete their work. Instructions for installation and use are below.
Windows & MacOS: Visit fsuvpn.fairmontstate.edu off campus
iPadOS: Search App Store or Click Here.
ChromeOS: Search Chrome Web Store or Click Here.
Windows: Windows includes "Remote Desktop Connection" and does not require a download of the Microsoft Remote Desktop application.
MacOS & iPadOS: Search App Store or Click Here.
ChromeOS: Search Play Store or Click Here.
Step 1: Open Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client
*Please Note: If you do not have the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, see the section above "Installing AnyConnect Client".
Step 2: Enter fsuvpn.fairmontstate.edu Click Connect
Step 3: In the Group field select Employees, and enter your UCA and Password, Click Ok.
Step 4: Open Remote Desktop Connection (Start > Windows Accessories > Remote Desktop Connection or search “Remote Desktop Connection”) and in the Computer Field enter the name of computer you are connecting to.
Example: LB126-ABCDE@fairmontstate.edu
Step 5: Click Connect. (A warning may appear that says "The identity of this computer cannot be verified. Do you want to connect anyway?" Click yes.
You can select the option "Don't ask me again for connections to this computer" to prevent seeing this notification again.)
Step 1: Open Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client
*Please Note: If you do not have the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, see the section above "Installing AnyConnect Client".
Step 2: Enter fsuvpn.fairmontstate.edu Click Connect
Step 3: In the Group field select Employees, enter your UCA and Password, Click Ok.
Step 4: Open Microsoft Remote Desktop.
*Please Note: If you do not have Microsoft Remote Desktop installed, see the section above "Installing Microsoft Remote Desktop"
Step 5: Click the + symbol at the top of the window and select Add PC.
In the PC Name field, enter the name of the computer you are connecting to
Example: LB126-ABCDE@fairmontstate.edu
Click the Save button to finish connecting.
Step 6: Double click on the icon labelled with your computer name and enter your UCA username and password when prompted.
(A warning may appear that says "The identity of this computer cannot be verified. Do you want to connect anyway?" Click yes.
You can select the option "Don't ask me again for connections to this computer" to prevent seeing this notification again.)

Step 3: In the Group field select Employees, enter your UCA and Password, press Connect
Step 4: Open Microsoft Remote Desktop.

Step 5: Press the + symbol at the top of the window and select Add PC.

Step 6: Press on the icon labelled with your computer name and enter your UCA username and password when prompted.

Step 2: Click Connections > Then Click Add New VPN Connection. Enter fsuvpn.fairmontstate.edu in the Server Address field and click ok.
Step 3: Return to main area of app. Toggle the AnyConnect VPN switch. In the Group field select Employees, enter your UCA and Password, click Connect
Step 4: Open Microsoft Remote Desktop.
